Experience
The retreat house offers a range of opportunities to slow down and be still.
Silence is a key aspect of retreats because it is in the silence that we can unplug from daily life and reconnect more deeply with ourselves; to connect with what we need, to hear our own inner wisdom, and rediscover the dreams and potential within. We can awaken to the present moment as we listen to birdsong and the sound of the waves and reconnect with nature and in the silence we can hear the sacred voice of the Divine.
Daily Contemplative Rhythm
We follow in the footsteps of monastic communities and have a daily rhythm of prayer and reflection. For those who wish to join us, we invite you to our morning and evening contemplative rhythm.
In the morning, we meet for Lectio Divina which is a form of reflective reading, followed by a time of meditation or centering prayer. We then share in some form of mindful movement such as Pilates, yoga or a mindful walk. Together this lasts up to an hour. We take into consideration the needs and preferences of the current guests in what we offer.
Towards the end of the day, we meet for a short time of 'Examen' to reflect on the day with gratitude and set intentions for the coming day. There is an opportunity for journal writing or sometimes a time of sharing our reflections of the day together. β
β
At each meal time, we invite guests to pause in silence as a moment of gratitude. This is to be thankful for the food but also to notice what else we are grateful for, at these three points in the day.
This rhythm is offered on weekdays and at the weekend we encourage guests to develop and follow their own rhythm. For those who don't already have a regular contemplative practice, this can help to create a personalised spiritual practice that can continue when you return home.
βFor those wishing to attend church over the weekend there are a wide range of denominations which are all within easy reach. Grenada is a predominantly Christian country but there is also a Jewish synagogue and mosques in the South of the island. β

Retreats are about slowing down and giving yourself time to be still.
It is allowing the peace of a place to help you to unwind and to give yourself permission to let go of the usual pressures and responsibilities of daily life. There are a range of retreat options and we encourage guests to consider what they are wanting from a retreat so we can shape the retreat around them.

We offer a range of body practices to connect with your body and to listen to what your body needs.
This may be in the form of mindful movement such as Pilates or breathwork or a visit to a herb and spice garden to learn about herbal remedies.

The Earth Spa is based at River Sallee Hot Springs which has been a sacred place of healing since the time of the Kalinago people. We also offer an in-house massage service provided by Lowin from the Earth Spa.
These sessions are times of therapeutic listening that can take various forms.
If you are staying with us for at least a week, we offer four complimentary Anam Cara sessions. There are various psychological approaches on offer including CBT, art therapy and eco-therapy.

We have designed the retreat house to create a contemplative space.
The different areas in the house and garden act as signposts to various ways in which to connect with our inner wisdom. There are places available to pray or reflect, areas to get creative or read as well as spaces to relax and socialise.
